In a county-wide campaign to help us all stay COVID-safe this winter - particularly during the lead-up to Christmas and into the New Year - residents are being reminded that the best gift we can give our friends and family is to keep following the guidance for the current Tier for Hampshire and to abide by the ‘Yule rules’.
Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Public Health, Councillor Judith Grajewski said: “The festive season will be different this year because of the pandemic. Many of us are having to scale-back our normal plans and find new ways to celebrate with loved ones. This is understandably disappointing and challenging, but I would encourage everyone to stick to the rules because, by doing so, we can return to normal more quickly.”
The County Council has published online guidance for residents wishing to set up and maintain Christmas bubbles to ensure they can socialise safely while continuing to protect each other. Residents are also being reminded that they must continue to follow self-isolation and testing guidance over the coming weeks and into January, to help break chains of infection and prevent further spread of the virus.
Cllr Grajewski added: “Whatever celebrations are being planned, it is vitally important that everyone continues to follow the guidance. It has certainly been a tough year and we’re eager to put it behind us, so it’s never been more important to protect one another. Hopefully, with everyone pulling together, we can begin to look forward to a better, brighter 2021.”
Further Christmas guidance is available on the Government’s website.
